STUDY PROGRAMS

We currently offer two Bachelor's, two Master's and one Doctoral programme. All study programs are provided in Czech language.

International Relations - Territorial Studies (BA)

The Bachelor's degree  in International Relations - Territorial Studies has traditionally been very popular with applicants - it is the programme with the highest number of applicants at the Faculty of Arts. By completing the International Relations - Territorial Studies programme you will gain an excellent orientation in the field of international relations with a territorial focus of your choice on either the Anglo-American region or Europe. Parttaking in compulsory courses, students are introduced to the field of international relations, research topics, basic theories, methods and individual subfields such as conflict resolution, foreign policy analysis, international organizations, etc. They are also introduced to several practically oriented courses (media, political economy, public administration, internship with a potential employer) with a close link to the employability of graduates in the labour market. The second component of the degree is an optional specialisation in Territorial Studies, namely a group of courses in British and American Studies or European Studies. Both blocks include courses on regional politics (or the political systems of the countries of the region) and courses in territorial studies (regional organisation and cooperation, historical formation of the region). Graduates will acquire excellent linguistic competence in the language of their chosen specialisation (English, Russian, French or German).

Society and Politics (BA)

The Bachelor's degree in Society and Politics is offered from 2021. The programme builds on the long-established and functional elements of Political Science and Sociology and combines them in a new multidisciplinary study. The Department of Sociology and the Department of Political Science and International Relations thus follow the contemporary trend of breaking the boundaries of traditional disciplines in order to increase the social relevance of the education provided. The aim of the Bachelor's degree programme in Society and Politics is the comprehensive preparation of a versatile professional focuse on sociological and political analysis. The programme prepares students for the profession (in methodologically oriented courses and courses focusing on public administration, contemporary politics and work with the media), while providing an overview of key topics in the social sciences needed for further study in social science programmes (especially Sociology and Political Science at the postgraduate level).
