Undergraduate Study Programmes

International Relations – Teritorial Studies

  • Specialisation in British and American Studies

This undergraduate programme provides a combined focus on international relations and British and American area studies. It is based both on traditional modes of interpretation, subdisciplines and methods of political science (political theory, state theory, comparative politics, political geography, geopolitics), as well as on theoretical and practical stimuli from contemporary international relations (international institutions, global governance, theories of international relations, international conflict resolution) and general British and American studies (study of British and American culture and society, analysis of political systems, foreign policies, regionalism, and of course a deep concentration on English language). In addition, the students can further enrich and extend their studies by selecting courses in political economy or security studies. The programme provides an intense focus on the study of English language, with courses in academic English for first year students and lectures in English for second and third year students.

  • Specialisation in European Studies

This undergraduate programme provides a combined focus on international relations and European political studies. It is based both on traditional modes of interpretation, subdisciplines and methods of political science (political theory, state theory, comparative politics, political geography, geopolitics), as well as on theoretical and practical stimuli from contemporary international relations (international institutions, global governance, theories of international relations, international conflict resolution) and general European studies (study of European culture and society, analysis of political systems, foreign policies, regionalism, and a deep concentration on German or French language). In addition, the students can further enrich and extend their studies by selecting courses in political economy or security studies.

Political Science

This undergraduate programme is designed as a three year study of political science with a strong emphasis on other social sciences and humanities. Besides traditional theoretically and empirically oriented political science courses, the students ought to select an additional specialization in one of the related social scientific disciplines (e.g. international relations, sociology or anthropology). In addition to the interdisciplinary focus, students also ought to acquire high proficiency in English, French, German, Spanish, Russian or other world language.
